Can you pay for Preply with ESA or scholarship funds? (2026–27)
Short answer for 2026–27
As of October 15, 2026, whether Preply can be paid with funds from the Arizona Empowerment Scholarship Account (Arizona Department of Education) or the Florida Personalized Education Program, Family Empowerment Scholarship for Unique Abilities or Family Empowerment Scholarship for Educational Options (Step Up For Students) is not publicly confirmed. We found no page from Preply or from these programs that names Preply, and Preply is not on Step Up For Students' Vendor and Product Listing. Each program allows families to pay for eligible tutoring themselves and request reimbursement, but the claim must include documents that Preply's standard receipt does not show, such as the tutor's full name and credentials. Status by program and payment route
Whether a provider can be paid depends on the program, the product and the payment route. "Not publicly confirmed" means we have not found a public source either way. It does not mean the provider is unavailable.

| Arizona Empowerment Scholarship Account (Arizona) | Individual classes | Reimbursement | Not publicly confirmed: Arizona Empowerment Scholarship Account (Arizona), Reimbursement | If Account Holders cannot make a purchase or pay using one of the three ways listed above, they may make purchases using their personal money or credit card. How this table is compiled: sources and methodology.
Where reimbursement may apply
How to check before you pay
- Look for the provider on your program's marketplace: in Arizona, the ClassWallet marketplace and Pay Vendor list; in Florida, the EMA Marketplace (Find Providers) and Step Up For Students' Vendor and Product Listing.
- If it is not listed, check whether the handbook allows reimbursement for this expense category.
- Ask the program administrator in writing and keep the reply.
- Keep receipts or invoices that show the student's name, the tutor's full name, the dates of each lesson, the hourly rate, the total and how you paid, plus a copy of the tutor's credentials.
Documents for a reimbursement claim
Worked example: reimbursement records
A family pays for a block of online lessons themselves and plans to claim reimbursement. The numbers below are hypothetical and only show the arithmetic.
| Item | Value |
|---|---|
| Lessons bought | 8 |
| Price per lesson in USD (hypothetical) | 25 |
| Total paid in USD | 200 |
In Arizona they would upload the receipt and a copy of the tutor's credentials (or the company's attestation form) through ClassWallet. In Florida they would submit a reimbursement request in EMA with an invoice showing both full names, the dates of the 8 lessons, the $25 hourly rate, the $200 total and the payment method, plus the tutor's credentials in English. The figures are hypothetical.
Frequently asked questions
Is Preply listed on any program marketplace?
Not publicly confirmed as of October 15, 2026. Preply is not on Step Up For Students' Vendor and Product Listing for the Personalized Education Program, Unique Abilities or Educational Options scholarships, and we found no Arizona Department of Education page that names Preply. Preply's help center has no article about education savings accounts, ClassWallet, Step Up For Students, scholarships or homeschooling.
Can I pay Preply myself and ask for reimbursement?
Each program allows reimbursement for eligible tutoring, with conditions. In Arizona you submit receipts and a copy of the tutor's credentials, or the tutoring company's completed tutoring/teaching attestation form, through ClassWallet (ESA Parent Handbook 2025–26, p. 17); screenshots of websites do not count as a credential. In Florida you submit a reimbursement request in EMA with an invoice or receipt on business letterhead showing the student's and tutor's first and last names, the type of service, the time period, the hourly rate, the total and the payment method, plus the tutor's credentials in English (Step Up For Students family handbooks, 2026–27). Preply's standard receipt does not show all of these, so check with your program before you pay.
