Status

Covered with conditions. PE lessons, equipment and student-only gym memberships covered, with conditions.

Conditions

PE instruction (for example gymnastics, martial arts, swimming, dance) is an allowable tutoring or teaching service under the credential rules. Gym memberships (individual, ESA student only), physical education equipment, playgrounds and sports leagues or camps are supplemental material that needs curriculum documentation. Basic sport items are general education supplemental material (attestation from July 1, 2026). Public-school sports and extracurriculars are allowed. ADE issues the ClassWallet debit card only to account holders who have a student with a disability and who opt in through the ESA parent portal (ADE ESA Support, 'ClassWallet Pre-Paid Debit Card', checked 2026-10-15).

Limits

Gym or PE facility memberships: individual memberships for the ESA student only. Trampolines up to 10 ft diameter. Sports camps: travel, overnight accommodation and food not allowed.

Documentation

Lessons: detailed invoice plus credential or attestation for debit card or reimbursement. Equipment, memberships and leagues: receipt plus curriculum documentation. Basic sport items: receipt plus the July 2026 attestation.

Not allowed

Family gym memberships; travel, overnight accommodations and food at sports camps; trampolines greater than 10 ft; swimming pools; motorized go-karts or scooters; footwear and clothing.
