Educational outings and tickets with Arizona ESA and scholarship funds

What is covered, conditions and how to pay

Status
Covered with conditions. Student admission tickets covered with a curriculum; travel, lodging and food are not.
Conditions
The handbook does not use the term 'field trip'. It covers 'Single tickets for educational events or venues' and 'Educational camps' as supplemental material that requires curriculum documentation. ESA Support says the student's ticket needs 'a simple curriculum that shows what they'll learn while they're there.' ADE issues the ClassWallet debit card only to account holders who have a student with a disability and who opt in through the ESA parent portal (ADE ESA Support, 'ClassWallet Pre-Paid Debit Card', checked 2026-10-15).
Limits
Student's own single tickets. When buying several tickets on one receipt, it must be itemized or show the count. Camps: travel, overnight accommodations and food excluded.
Payment routes
ClassWallet Marketplace, Pay Vendor, ClassWallet debit card (students with a disability), Reimbursement
Documentation
Itemized receipt plus curriculum documentation (these are not 'general' supplemental items, so the July 2026 attestation route does not replace the curriculum).
Not allowed
Amusement park, theme park and waterpark tickets; hotel and lodging; dining and food; travel, overnight accommodations and food at educational camps; tickets for non-ESA family members (single tickets only).
Example
Single tickets for educational events or venues such as zoos, science or art museums, plays, ballet, orchestra, musicals, etc.
